What the hell am I doing?

That was simple to answer; she was heading toward Jax’s hotel room. The question was, why? There was everything to lose—the backing for the film, the respect she had worked so hard to achieve, her reputation for not sleeping around with the people that she worked with and for. In a town where sleeping one’s way to the top was not just common but almost expected, Callie had managed to make it without using her body and she wanted to keep it that way.

“I was drunk. He probably sucked in bed and I just thought he was great.”

The words did not help persuade her to turn the car around. Callie knew damn well he was good in bed, no matter how drunk she had been she had not been too drunk to appreciate his skills.

His very considerable skills she thought, remembering the way he had cupped her ass cheeks in his strong hands before spanking her and the feel of him inside of her.

“Okay, I hear you,” she said to her clamoring body. “You do know this is likely going to come back and bite me on the ass, don’t you?” she said smiling at her apt use of the metaphor.

Her head knew; but her body either did know and didn’t care or could not seem to grasp the concept. Either way she kept driving towards the hotel, anticipation sending a pleasant tingle into her crotch. She could feel the seam of her pants chafing against her panties, delicately nudging at the flesh below.

She pulled into the lot and got out of her car. The sun baked across the asphalt, a few already drunk tourists staggered out of the casino laughing and yelling out kudos to each other. One of them must have won a small jackpot and they were on their way to celebrate the win. No doubt would they be returning every penny back to the casinos before the day was through.

A smile crossed her face as she watched them go up the street, practically holding each other up. When was the last time she had gone out just for the sheer hell of it, just to enjoy the spectacle that was Vegas?

Regret rooted her to the spot. Regret and an emotion she rarely felt: fear. She had never felt the need to repeat a one-nighter, but she was there and getting ready to do just that. What was it about Jax that made her want him so much?

Needing someone was dangerous and she knew it all too well. She told herself to get back in the car and drive away but once again her body overrode her head and her feet turned towards the hotel.

Callie was in the lobby before she realized she had no idea what room he was in. Once again regretting her decision, she started to walk out but Jax suddenly appeared as if by magic and placed his hand on her arm. Her heart nearly stopped at the touch, electric tingles spread out from the spot where his fingers lay against her skin.
